How to test orientation on site
Open the compass app on your phone on the balcony and photograph the reading. Note where the sun sits at the time of the viewing and ask the site team where it sits at 17:00 in August. Look for deep reveals, external shading and a balcony depth over 1.8 metres — those are the details that turn an exposed façade into a usable one.
Trade-offs worth accepting
A north-facing bedroom sleeps better than a south-facing one. A dual-aspect apartment cross-ventilates and can go weeks in spring without mechanical cooling. If you must choose between view and orientation, remember you look at the view for minutes a day and pay for the orientation every month.
