Energy performance ratings for Cyprus homes
What an A or A+ rating means, how it is certified, and what it saves in a Limassol summer.
The certificate
Every property sold or rented requires an Energy Performance Certificate. Since the nearly-zero-energy requirement took effect, new residential buildings must reach the top bands, which drives insulation thickness, glazing specification and renewable provision.
What it means in practice
In this climate the rating is mostly a cooling-load statement. The difference between an unrated 1990s block and an A-rated new build shows up every August on the electricity bill, and again at resale.
