High-Rise Development in Limassol: Why the Towers Happened
Zoning changes, land economics, engineering demands and the practical trade-offs of living high on the Limassol coast.
The economics
When coastal land price passes a threshold, height becomes the only way to make a scheme viable. Zoning changes permitting greater height along parts of the seafront turned that arithmetic into a skyline.
Engineering reality
Towers require deeper foundations, more complex structural systems, pressurised water and firefighting provisions, and far more sophisticated façade engineering against wind and salt.
Living high, honestly
Views and quiet, against higher communal charges, lift dependency, wind on balconies and slower evacuation. It suits some households and genuinely does not suit others.
