Limassol as a city2 min readUpdated July 2026
The cost of living in Limassol
What a household actually spends each month — housing, utilities, schooling, transport and food.
Housing dominates
Limassol is the most expensive Cypriot city to house yourself in, and housing is the single line that decides whether the city feels affordable. Everything else — food, transport, leisure — sits close to the EU median.
Utilities and the summer bill
Electricity is the variable people underestimate. A poorly insulated 1990s apartment can cost several times more to cool in August than an A-rated one of the same size. This is the cheapest argument for buying new that nobody makes loudly enough.
Schooling
Public education is free and in Greek. Private and international schooling is the largest discretionary cost for relocating families and should be budgeted before the mortgage.
