What it is
The Old Town is the historic heart: the castle, the covered market, narrow streets of listed stone buildings, and the restored old port. Restoration grants have pulled dozens of buildings back from dereliction over the past fifteen years.
Living reality
Parking is the constraint, and listed-building rules make renovation slow and expensive. In return you get the only genuinely walkable, historically layered part of the city.
